Based on the belief that smiles are contagious, Jourdan delivers acoustic feel-good music that comes straight from the heart. With smooth, catchy vocals and supported by seemingly familiar guitar, he shares his modern tales in true story teller fashion, like a polished Bob Dylan driven to spread happiness.
Born and raised on a mid-western dairy farm, Jourdan learned the importance of dedication and hard work. Applying this focus to his music, he combines positivity, philosophy, and passion to create a unique mix of originals inspired by life's lessons. Armed with an acoustic guitar and the two loves of his life by his side, Mary and their dog Jaya, this contemporary troubadour is ready to take the world on at large.
In late 2017 Jourdan released his debut solo album Come Alive, an eclectic mix of catchy originals and upbeat covers with a folk-bluegrass vibe. He likes to call the style feel-good-music because it is meant to make people smile. Jourdan is currently back in the studio working on his followup album which will be titled In Between the Middle. He is excited to continue to share his music with the world.
Jourdan's playing experience covers a variety of styles and genres that include: pop, rock, blues, jazz, funk, folk, bluegrass, electronic, and classical. As a formally trained musician with multiple degrees in music, you will find him playing keys, saxophone, guitar, bass, or drums. He particularly enjoys sharing his original songs and performing on acoustic guitar as a singer-songwriter.
Jourdan performs regionally as a solo artist and frequently with his wife Mary Wallin. Together, they were selected as finalists to compete in Madison’s MMM Radio Project M 2017. In 2016 Jourdan won third place in the CD Baby’s Summer Music Video Contest with his pop-bluegrass remake of Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling. The video depicts the story of how Mary and Jourdan met, fell in love, the proposal, and as it turns out, fairy-tales do come true!
Over the years Jourdan has performed regularily in the greater Madison area; notable venues include: the Wisconsin State Capitol, Executive Residence, Dane Country Region Airport, Henry Vilas Zoo, Hilldale Mall, and the Monona Farmers Market.
Some of his previous performing groups include: Scuttlebuttin' (Makes Me Feel Alive - keys, sax, vocals), Eden's Empire (Be Free - keys), Enowning (The Dream - vocals and keys), Honeyshot (cover band - keys, guitar, sax, vocals), Hot Money (cover band - keys and vocals), and the UW - La Crosse Jazz Ensemble.
In addition to performing, Jourdan has been a music educator for over 15 years. As a private music instructor he teaches multiple instruments, styles, and a variety of music related topics. He is actively developing The Musician's Toolshed which is an online resource for his students. Moreover, he has worked closely with the Madison Music Foundry developing classes and curriculum for their Live Sound and Recording classes.
Aside to music, Jourdan is a freelance producer and designer working under his own business Designs by Hines. In 2016 he became yoga certified along with his wife. He enjoys assisting her with her wellness and lifestyle business the Well Rounded Guru.
